The question portion of the session recording was cut off due to technical difficulties but the presentation is available.

Team Lead Applications closed on 4/19, but Youth Civic Leader applications are still being accepted.

What do former KVD Civic Leadership Interns say about their experience?

Creating info for different types of people, explaining how local government works, and working as part of a team were particularly big areas of growth for me this summer!
I’ve loved working with other, civically engaged people my age and being able to make meaningful friendships :) I love being a part of a group that wants to help our/the next generation be engaged locally
This is such a cool and unique experience to get involved with local government in Durham!!! You’ll get to talk with candidates, create the election materials used through Durham schools, meet other youth equally invested in civic engagement and so so much more.
It is a great experience that allows you to make a real-world impact. Not only that, it’s fun! You get to work with other youth who are passionate about the same things as you.
When I started this internship, I had no knowledge of city government and elections, I just thought it would be a cool thing to participate in! Now I have a deeper understanding about all the work that goes into making Durham, Durham, and I feel more confident in my abilities as a citizen
I really valued learning how to work in a team. I think this taught me a lot about when to step on and take on a job or a role and when I need to take a step back and let others jump in.
